Roberto Mancini accepts ‘the mistake’ for Manchester City's defeat by Liverpool, 3-0: EPL News
Manchester City's manager, Roberto Mancini, has accepted all the blame for his side's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Monday. The Italian admitted that he 'made a mistake'.
Manchester City were completely demolished by the rampant Reds at the Anfield, conceding three goals within the first 35 minutes to put a dent in their hopes of securing a top four finish in the league this season. In fact, the match was actually more comfortable
for Liverpool than the score-line suggests.
Kenny Dalglish's men took control of the match from the word-go, dominating long stretches of play and asking difficult questions of the City's defence all night. Dalglish had earlier stated that the City would be too focused on their upcoming FA cup encounter
against Manchester United to give http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 their full attention. The City's performance against the Reds on Monday seems to have proved him right.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 took full responsibility for his side's dismal performance against Liverpool and said, “We did not prepare for this game very well. The fact we arrived late was probably part of the reason. We probably thought that if we played this game less than
100 per cent we could still get a win. But football is not like that. I have learned something about myself. I have a lot of experience so it was my mistake not the players. I am sure we will get in the Champions League and we will get to the final."
The Italian had opted to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882 and David Silva on the bench, raising more than a few eyebrows with his team selection. However, he refused to explain what the 'mistake' was.
Mancini said, "Tonight I made a mistake, it was my fault. I think the players can do better, but I made a mistake. I know (what the mistake was). It is for me. I am sorry for the fans. We only started to play after 20 minutes."
Despite the defeat, Manchester City are in fourth place in the English Premier League standings. However, their place in the top four is on a shaky ground, especially since the fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur are back to winning ways.
