Manchester City manager, Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 has gone on to admit that he would have made Daniel Sturridge start for City, had the striker still been at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea went on to land the striker from City in 2009. The deal was made by Mark Hughes, who was the manager of City back then. Hughes felt that Sturridge was demanding way too much in terms of his wage and hence he let the player leave the team.
Following his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, the striker has gone on to really get his career rolling forward. Sturridge went on to play for Bolton as part of a loan deal and went on win over every Bolton fan, thanks to his brilliant performances week in and week out.
Since then, the player has become a regular for Chelsea and has managed to score a goal in the last three appearances that he made for the team.
Mancini has gone on to admit the lack of thinking in letting Sturridge believes, as he feels he would have never let the striker leave, irrelevant to what Hughes said about his transfer.
When talking about the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 internationals move away from the club, Mancini is quoted to have said: "It was strange because Sturridge was developed in Manchester and someone let him go"
"For sure he was one of the best young players at City. It was not difficult to see he was a good player.
"If Sturridge was here today, he'd be in the first team. I've watched him many times and know him well.”
The manager then went on to admit that he had asked the striker personally as to why he left the team. As he went on to add:
"When we played Bolton last year, I asked him why he had left City.
"He said he didn't know. It would have been better for City to send him on loan to improve than let him leave altogether."
Sturridge is turning into a much more complete forward as the days go by. The striker has already gone on and shown how good he is, when it comes to scoring goals and with his mercurial pace and ability to create something out of nothing, it is safe to say
he is going to be playing for Chelsea for a long time to come.
With both Chelsea and City set to face off later tonight, it is going to be interesting to see just how the striker plays against his former club.
