Roberto Mancini believes Manchester City have a very unfavourable fixture list – Premier League Update
Manchester City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini believes that Manchester City went on to draw against Liverpool, due to the highly unfavourable manner, in which their fixtures have been decided.
The team is now set to take on Arsenal in the Carling Cup, only a couple of days after playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Anfield. They are then going to take on Norwich on the weekend, followed by a game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The manager believes that this squad listing is rather unfair and causes his team to perform under par. As a result, the manager has gone ahead and lashed out at the FA and blasted their ability to draw fixtures in a competent manner.
When talking about the situation that he finds himself in, the manager is quoted to have said: “I think this is the reason why the national team arrive for European Championships, World Cups and they are dying.”
“The players don't have time to recover.
“We'll change all the team, because this is an incredible situation.”
The manager then went on to try and clarify his logic, by claiming the Gunners got one whole extra day of rest, as opposed to City, who played a highly competitive game on Sunday.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 then went on to add:
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 played on Saturday, we play Sunday evening. Monday, travel to London, and we play Tuesday night. Incredible.”
"To play again in two days like this so soon after the Champions League is incredible.”
Despite it seeming like Mancini is just complaining because his side failed to pick up three points against Liverpool, it is easy to agree with what the manager is saying.
Irrelevant to City possessing surplus players and having a massive squad depth, it is rather unfair for any team to play so many games, in such a small time span. Not only does it take a lot out of the players, but it also makes it close to impossible for
the team to maintain their form and despite rotating their players, it causes the team to be fatigued and rather tardy.
A number of teams have been suffering these problems in the last couple of seasons, but the FA is yet to take this issue into account, as they came producing some very tiresome fixture lists.
It is high time for the FA to get their act together and try and formulate a way in which they produce decent fixture lists for all the teams in the English league.
