Roberto Mancini claims Manchester City still have a long way to go before they can rival Barcelona
Manchester City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini has gone down to play down any and all links, which have been claiming his side to be as good as Barcelona.
The Manchester based team have started the Premier League season with a bang and have so far managed to pick up four wins from their opening four games. As a result, the team is currently sitting on top of the Premier League table and are only behind Manchester
United on goal difference.
Due to this form that the team has shown this early in the season, the team is currently being compared to Champions League winners Barcelona. In fact, some experts have gone on to state that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s biggest threat in the Champions league is going to
be City, should the two face off against each other.
Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 when talking about his team and their future prospects has admitted that the team’s primary focus is to improve in the league and hopefully go far in the Champions League as well.
"I understand why people are getting excited but it is still early for us," he told reporters.
"Yes, it's our target to improve, to win the Premier League and Champions League in the future.
"But let's see what happens in May. This group of players has only been together for two months and we need time.
The manager then went on to admit that he was a little shocked with the fact that his side made it into the Champions League as early as they did, despite him wanting the Champions League to be a part of his project with the club.
"Of course, playing in the Champions League was all part of the project. But we are actually in the competition sooner than I thought we would be.”
The manager then went on to admit that one of the reasons for the club doing half as good as they have, is because they went ahead and bought some brilliant players. Due to the team’s actions in the transfer market, they have exceeded everyone’s expectations,
but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
"The club has bought good players and we worked very hard and for these reasons we deserve to be where we are. But we still need to improve."
The club has come a long way, over the course of the last few seasons. The team is no longer the pushover that it once used to be and should they carry on improving at the pace that they have set, then it wouldn’t be long before they gave Barcelona a run
for their money.
