Roberto Mancini confirms that Carlos Tevez wants to stay at Manchester City – Barclays Premier League
Manchester City’s boss, Roberto Mancini, has put an end to speculations related to Carlos Tevez’s future and has confirmed that the Argentinean striker has expressed his desire to stay at Eastlands for another season.
Roberto Mancini confirmed in the post-match interview after Manchester City leap-forged Arsenal to third place in the Barclays Premier League by defeating Stoke City.
Roberto Mancini told the reporters, “He has a five-year contract and has told us he wants to stay. He said that before. He never had any problem”.
There had been doubts about Carlos Tevez’s future after the Argentinean striker handed the transfer request in the first half of the season. The rumours about Tevez’s future increased when he publicly claimed that he has yet to decide his future, last week.
There were speculations linking Tevez with a move to Italy or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 but Roberto Mancini has rubbished all these rumours and confirmed in clear words that the Argentinean striker will remain at Manchester City.
Roberto Mancini stated, “He is a fantastic striker and a fantastic player for us. I think he will stay here next year. He doesn't have a problem. I spoke with him many times in the last 20 days. It is my opinion that Carlos stays here next season. In December
he had a problem. But everyone can change his opinion. Carlos is an important player here”.
Carlos Tevez has been a revelation at Manchester City since making a move from Manchester United in 2009. Tevez was handed the captain arm-band by Roberto Mancini at the start of the season and the Argentinean has gone on to prove himself as a prolific leader.
Tevez became the first Manchester City captain since Mike Doyle (1976) to lift a trophy for the Blues after Roberto Mancini’s men won the FA Cup final by defeating Stoke City at Wembley Stadium last Sunday.
Moreover, Carlos Tevez also became the joint top goal scorer of the Barclays Premier League after he scored a brace in the recent League win over Stoke City. The Argentinean striker has now scored 21 goals in 30 games in the Barclays Premier League and played
39 matches for Manchester City in all competitions.
