Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini has given his opinion on the current Premier League season, as the manager feels the title will be decided in the Manchester derby in April. Should Manchester United win, they would be champions; otherwise
City would take home the crown.
Roberto Mancini feels that at this point in the season, it is now up to both the Manchester clubs to prove their worth, as the other teams in the league don’t stand a chance of catching up to them.
Both Manchester City and Manchester United are level on points in the Premier League and Mancini feels that based on this, the title could be decided in the derby on April 28th.
The Italian feels that both the teams are going to drop minimal points till April and the other teams, despite their good form, just won’t be able to catch up because of this.
The City manager, when talking about the situation at hand is quoted to have said: “If we are strong enough, I think it will be decided with the game at home [against United] probably.
“We are on top, we are happy and know we have another 21 games."
City have already managed to humiliate United earlier in the season, when they beat the Red Devils by six goals to one at Old Trafford.
Since then, City have gone on to produce a number of poor results and the team dropped their lead at the top of the table.
On the other hand, United have started to pick up their pace and have been matching City stride for stride.
Both the teams are now level on points and City’s superior goal difference is keeping them in the first spot in the league table.
Nonetheless, with the rest of the league looking to play catch-up as well, City might have to fend off a number of opponents, if they are to try and claim the Premier League title.
Should the team drop anymore unnecessary points, they could end up blowing a glorious opportunity of being crowned Premier League champions.
It is now a wait till the end of the season, to see just what team lifts the Premier League trophy.
