Roberto Mancini might go for Andy Carroll if he fails to land Edin Dzeko
Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini has indicated that he would like to sign Newcastle United’s hit man, Andy Carroll. City have been heavily linked with the Wolfsburg star striker, Edin Dzeko. However, reports recently emerged that he would not leave
the club until the end of the season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s side played against Andy Carroll on Sunday. Although, Manchester City ran out eventual winners, Carroll caused plenty of trouble to the City defence and managed to score a consolation goal for Newcastle United. He gave Mancini food for thought
in his pursuit for a strike partner for club captain Carlos Tevez.
Roberto Mancini was full of praise for the giant centre forward, saying, “Carroll is a good player. He's young, he's strong, and he’s very good. But I don't think that Newcastle want to sell."
On a satisfactory night for Manchester City, Carlos Tevez was again on the score sheet and now City have jumped up to second in the table only behind their arch rivals, Manchester United.
Mancini marked his first anniversary at the club with a win and when quizzed about his first year at the club, his reply was simple and straight forward, “fantastic” he replied.
However, he was quick to suggest that there is still a lot of work to do.
"We must improve at home, though. Away we are very good but we've lost a lot of points at home. If we do improve I hope we can arrive on top and that we can win something," said Mancini.
Winning is what is expected and that is the reason why Roberto Mancini is in the hunt for a top drawer striker. Edin Dzeko seemed to be on his way to City but now it seems they may have to wait until summer to get their man.
If reports coming out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 are to be believed than Manchester City might just get their man as soon as January. It has been reported that Wolfsburg have softened their stance on the asking price for the Bosnian.
They now will be willing to accept an offer in the region of £26m. This is what City would be willing to pay. Meanwhile, Andy Carroll stays on City’s shopping list and a failure to secure their top target, City might turn to the Geordie to give Carlos Tevez
the support he needs.
Alan Pardew too was full of praise for his star striker. "Andy Carroll was a constant menace," said Pardew. "If you put balls into the right areas, not many centre-halves can deal with Andy."
