The former Lazio left back had come out earlier on in the month and declared his intent to seek his future elsewhere after being relegated to the bench in the 2011-2012 Premier League season as Mancini put his faith in Gael
Clichy but now the City manager has said that he wants Kolarov to stay...
Kolarov had made it clear in his comments earlier on that he will be seeking his future elsewhere after becoming disenchanted with Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini in the recently concluded Premier League season. Manchester
City went onto win their first Premier League title in over 44 years but Kolarov was only a bit part player at the club.
After signing Gael Clichy from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 star completed his switch from Serie A to
Premier League in 2010 for 18 million pounds but since then he has played sporadically for the Citizens.
Manchester City will require the likes of Kolarov to stay with them as squad players because http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 will focus on the UEFA Champions League next season, a tournament that saw City exit at the group stage. Kolarov currently faces
strict competition for a starting line up place with the likes of Clichy and even Paolo Zabaleta who Mancini has turned towards when Clichy has been out injured.
Mancini said, "Kolarov? He is a great left-back and I would like to keep him. We have very good players and there are many clubs interested in them, which means that we have done our jobs well, we know his [Kolarov's] value well
and we want to keep him."
With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester United already adding to their squads to give themselves a better chance of competing for the Premier League title, Manchester City will want to retain their current stars and also add to
them in order to retain their first league triumph in over 44 years. Such a task will be harder if squad players such as Kolarov seek their futures elsewhere in club football.
