Roberto Mancini voices concerns over Balotelli injury
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that he is worried about Mario Balotelli. The striker recently suffered a recurrence of a long-term knee injury which will see him sidelined for at least a month.
Mancini has voiced his concerns about Balotelli’s absence, especially at such a pivotal period in the Barclays Premier League. Speaking about the Italian striker’s fitness, the Manchester City manager said, “It is bad news. I am worried because he can't
play for another three or four weeks at an important moment for us.”
Balotelli suffered a horrendous knee injury during his debut match against Timisoara in August. The 20-year-old was forced to undergo an operation to his leg, keeping him on the sidelines for two months. Roberto Mancini has now revealed that Balotelli’s
knee problems are resurfacing, forcing the medical staff to give the Italian a further four weeks off.
The Manchester City manager remarked that it was odd for Balotelli to be sidelined so soon after recovering from the original injury. He added that he is still unsure what the exact problem is. Mancini said, “To have an operation done and then to have another
problem two months later is strange. He may need surgery. We just don't know. He must rest, then he will have treatment and work. Hopefully then he will be OK.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937’s last appearance for City was in the 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on 28 December. At that time, the striker made a statement of intent by scoring a fantastic hat-trick for his new club. He has not featured in any of Manchester City’s matches
since then.
However, Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 has a backup plan in the form of Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian recently transferred from Wolfsburg for a fee of 27 million pounds. The Manchester City manager will be reasonably confident that his new signing can fill in the void left
by Balotelli’s absence.
We will see whether Dzeko can make an immediate impact at Eastlands when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 face Manchester City on Saturday.
