Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini has joked that he would punch Mario Balotelli for not celebrating goals.
The arrogant Italian striker believes that scoring goals is part of the job and not something to get overjoyed with. However, he did manage to smile after scoring a hat-trick against Aston Villa, but a proper goal celebration is yet to be seen.
Interestingly, his manager, who himself did this job pretty effectively and happens to belong to the same country, is finding it hard to come to terms with Balotelli’s explanation.
"I would like to punch him sometimes," Mancini said. "When you score three goals in the Barclays Premier League you should celebrate.
"After the first goal he did celebrate, for one second I think. At least he smiled."
His ‘non-smiling’ celebrations have done nothing but ignite rumours that the 20 year old wants out of Manchester City. There have been reports suggesting that the Italian is finding it hard to settle into the life of Manchester.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 also acknowledges the fact that it is not easy for a 20 year old to come to a new country and get settled straight away. Furthermore, Balotelli is the only Italian player at the club.
"It could be that he is homesick," Mancini said. "But I don't think it is a long-term problem. He is 20. It is the first time he has left his family. It is normal for him to miss them."
Mancini believes that City fans love Balotelli and it is important for him to realise this.
"Our supporters love Mario," Mancini added. "Mario must understand this because it is important for a player.
"Every day I fight against him, but he is young. He was with me at 17 years old, so I know him very well."
Balotelli has himself indicated every now and then that he will leave for AC Milan to join up with his old teammate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029.
"I am very happy even if the journalists in Italy say I want to go to Milan," said the striker. "I am here and I am working hard in training. I want to be an important man for this team and you can see the results on the pitch.
"We can win this championship. In the New Year, I feel we can be better."
