Roberto Mancini will ask Argentina to use Carlos Tevez less frequently
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to ask Argentina not to use striker Carlos Tevez so frequently on the international scene.
Tevez will be returning to his home nation as he looks to recover from a troublesome thigh injury. Mancini blames the travelling demands of the Argentina side for Tevez's general fatigue.
"International football is a problem for Carlos. Argentina don't play games in Europe but in South America, Japan or Australia and
this makes it difficult for him. He arrived back from the last international break tired. He needs time to recover," said the City boss.
It is fair to say that the demands made by international sides on players are greater than ever before. However, the club versus country row is nothing new and any Manchester
City restrictions may alienate the player.
Burn out
Burn out is a topic on the mind of any Premier League manager that has a number of players from different countries. The Premier League does not have a winter break, which
puts managers such as Mancini in difficult positions.
On the one hand Mancini will have to step in and restrict Tevez from playing for Argentina. This is because it does an athlete no good at all if he is forced to regular
switch from country to country and time zone to time zone.
On the other hand the club has a problem because Tevez is a very passionate player. He loves where the light blue and white stripes of Argentina and may get annoyed with
his club side if he's prevented from playing.
"Argentina have a friendly against Brazil in November, but I hope for that
game he can stay here. It would be better for him and his country," added Mancini.
Betting advice
Tevez is a player that always gives one hundred per cent in any game. If there is any issue of burn out with this player then it never shows because he races around the pitch
like the youngest player on the pitch. Back him to score in any game he plays.
