Roberto Mancini will only leave Manchester City if sacked
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has defended his credentials after suffering three successive defeats, ruling out the option of leaving the club on his own volition.
After being beaten by Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last two league games, City lost their Europa League tie against Polish champions Lech Poznan on Thursday, 4 November.
City's failing form has led to speculation that Mancini, who took charge of City in December 2009, could be forced to leave the club before the end of the current season.
But the Italian, who won three league titles at Inter Milan between 2006 and 2008, has said that he will only leave the club if the owners decide to do away with him.
"For me it is totally clear, I will stay at City until they fire me," he told French magazine
So Foot. "I've seen the owner Sheikh Mansour two or three times and we have a good relationship. I also have very frequent contact with the president, Khaldoon Al Mubarak. We speak three or four times a week and he often comes to training."
Champions League ambition realistic
Mancini has previously said that his goal for the current season is to secure a place in next year's Champions League, a competition in which the club has yet to appear.
Ten games into the league season, City are fourth in the table, two points ahead of Tottenham, another team aiming for a top-four finish.
Mancini added that his track record as manager proves his ability to propel teams to new heights.
"As a coach I've taken teams that weren't winning such as Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter and I've won."
On Sunday, 7 November, City travel to face West Bromwich Albion, who have made a promising start to their league season after securing promotion from the Championship.
