Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has denied rumours that the want-away winger, Charles N’Zogbia, has gone on strike at the DW Stadium in order to force a move away from the club.
N’Zogbia, who joined the Latics from Newcastle United in 2009, was subject of a transfer offer from Aston Villa.
The Villans have been strongly linked with the French international since the departure of Ashley Young and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221. Alex McLeish is seeking a perfect and creative replacement for the departed duo.
Aston Villa made a £9 million bid for N’Zogbia which was rejected by Wigan Athletic as they are determined to get at least £10 million for their wide-man. Moreover, Sunderland and Everton have also registered their interest in the French international.
N’Zogbia has a year left on his current contract at Wigan Athletic and is determined to leave the Latics in the current transfer window as he has refused to extend his contract at the DW Stadium.
It has been reported that the 25-year-old has gone on strike after seeing Wigan Athletic block his move to Aston Villa. However, Roberto Martinez has rejected such rumours and has claimed that the French International has no problems at Wigan Athletic.
Martinez told the reporters, “But no, not at all. I think sometimes it's all too easy for the press to speak about a player away from his daily work.”
The Latics manager went on to claim that N’Zogbia is a perfectionist and is working really hard with Wigan Athletic during their pre-season training.
“Charlie is a perfectionist and is working really, really hard to take his personal game to a different level. He's been a true professional around the place,” added the Wigan boss.
Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 is reluctant to lose Charles N’Zogbia. The Latics boss also admitted that the French international could yet stay at the DW Stadium if the club’s valuation for N’Zogbia is not met.
“In a way, it's always a good sign when you've got players that are wanted away from here. But we've been very clear. The chairman has set a price and if that's not met, Charlie is an important part of our football club,” Roberto Martinez concluded.
Charles N’Zogbia’s nine goals in the Barclays Premier League played a huge role in Wigan Athletic’s survival battle last season.
