The prolific Valencia marksman scored the only goal of the match as Spain managed to secure all three points from their adventures in Tbilisi.
La Roja kick started their 2014 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 0-1 victory over modest European rivals, Georgia. The defending champions were made to wait late into the fixture for their only goal of the match as the opposition decided to park
the bus to get anything out from the encounter.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Soldado-c31367 was the hero for La Roja fans, as he hit the back of the net after winning the confidence of Vicente Del Bosque to start the match.
Reflecting on the fixture, Soldado stated that the Euro 2012 winners were made to work hard by their rivals, despite the fact that they enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, as well as being gifted the ball by their opponents who preferred to sit in front
of the goal rather than foray ahead.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georgia-c2903 huddled in the penalty area, claiming that he had little area to move with the rivals packing their third.
Nevertheless, Soldado was pleased with his goal scoring antics, claiming that it was imperative that Spain win with the chances they create and is happy to be the provider of the strike.
"It was a hard-worked victory against a team that gave us the ball and they got all [their] people in their area," he said while talking to TVE representatives after the game.
"We have had many chances to score, but the important thing is to get the few we have had and fortunately we did.”
"It was frustrating because in the penalty area I was continually surrounded and there was little space to move. So I had to move myself as simply as I could to score."
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque, took the high road. The former Real Madrid player and manager preferred to look at their mistakes rather than point fingers at their rivals.
Del Bosque criticised his players for their prolificacy in front of the goal, but was happy with the three points they accumulated.
"We have done everything but we lacked a bit in finishing. These are three important points," Del Bosque told reporters in the post match conference.
