The Bayer Leverkusen manager is disappointed after his team lost to the Catalan giants in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League tie.
Robin Dutt has expressed his frustration at Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-1 loss to Barcelona in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League knock-out stage clash. Both teams locked horns on Tuesday, February 14, at the BayArena with the
visitors emerging as 3-1 winners on the night. Alexis Sanchez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michal-Kadlec-c25422 netted a consolation for the hosts.
The manager believes that his team paid too much respect to the defending European champions, which eventually contributed to their loss. He opined that his players were far too modest during the first-half, which allowed the visitors
to go into the lead at the interval. However, Dutt applauded his team’s effort during the second period, where they looked like scoring rather than sitting back and played some attacking football.
Sanchez earned his side the lead in the 41st minute which was cancelled out by Kadlec on the 52nd minute mark. The Chilean doubled his side’s tally with his second of the evening in the 55th minute
before Messi scored a winner two minutes from full-time.
While talking to reporters after the game, Dutt further added:
"Our defence was very good in the first half, but we showed them too much respect and didn’t move enough. In the second half it was a completely different story. During the break I asked my players whether they wanted to participate
or whether they wanted be the audience. In the second half we caused Barcelona some real problems."
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexis-Sánchez-c4979, expressed his delight at the team’s display. He stated that the Catalonians have certainly made a positive start to their knock-out campaign but warned against any complacency
despite having a first-leg advantage.
“We have started the tie in the right way, but we still have the home leg to play and we will not be relaxing,” Sanchez concluded.
Barcelona will host Bayer Leverkusen for the second-leg on Wednesday, March 07, at Camp Nou.
