Robin Goger finishes poorly at the Boys Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship
Robin Goger of Austria struggled in the last two rounds of the Boys Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, and failed to record a top-10 finish on the leaderboard, on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
The Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, which is also lauded as one of the best amateur golf tournaments in the world, was staged at the Biltmore Golf Course.
The boys division of the event showcased a total of 61 male amateur players from different parts of the world. In addition to that, 33 female amateurs also displayed their skills in the girls division.
The first two rounds of the event witnessed Goger playing some decent shots on the course. He opened his campaign by carding a three-under par 68 in the first round, followed by a sparkling 67 on day two.
In total, he posted 12 birdies and five bogeys on his scorecard, during the first half of the tournament. Thereafter, he failed to keep the momentum going into the weekend and registered only one birdie putt, which came on the first hole in the third round.
Right after earning a shot on the first hole on day three, he parred each of the next seven holes, prior to conceding a double bogey on the ninth hole.
The back nine of the course witnessed him recording par putts on each of the first seven holes, followed by a double bogey and a bogey on the last two holes, respectively.
Entering the final round, he was sharing the fifth position on the leaderboard, and still had the chance to finish among the top-10 players on the leaderboard.
However, the Austrian failed to regain his momentum, and turned in 37 on the front nine, thanks to bogeys on the eighth and the ninth hole.
The back nine also saw him making huge mistakes, as he conceded three bogeys and a double bogey, to post a seven-over par 78 in the final round.
At the end of the day, he found himself accumulating a four-over par 288 four-day score, which dragged him down to the shared 17th position on the leaderboard.
Patrick Kelly, in the meantime, fired a 19-under par overall score, to record a sparkling 13-stroke victory in the tournament.
