Robin Hull, Li Yan, Tian Pengfei, David Grace move to Round 2: 2011 Shanghai Masters qualifiers
Professional ticket winners at the World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) played outstandingly in the qualifying session of 2011 Shanghai Masters. Now, Robin Hull, Li Yan, Tian Pengfei and David
Grace have successfully surged into the second round of qualifying matches, which are under way at the Shanghai Grand Stage in China.
Robin Hull faced Andrew Pagett in his opening match of 2011 Shanghai Masters qualifiers. Hull lost the first scrappy frame but he bounced back in the next to pull level at 1-1 after smashing a superb
knock of 64. He gained 2-1 lead after potting a stunning clearance of 127 in the third frame but Pagett levelled 2-2. The player sprang back into the game and took it easily by 5-3 pocketing a nice 51 break.
The Chinese pro ticket winner, Li Yan and Tian Pengfei, also took their opening qualifiers against Paul Davison and Dechawat Poomjaeng by the score line of 5-2 and 5-3 respectively. The Chinese pair
played brilliantly during the match to unsettle their opponents completely. Li Yan will meet Rod Lawler while Tian Pengfei will next face compatriot Liu Song in the second round qualifiers.
Another tour player this year, David Grace has made it to the second round of Shanghai Masters 2011 qualifiers. A fine display of snooker skills brought him 5-1 up against Welsh National Champion,
Daniel Wells, who also won the European Snooker Championship this year. Wells couldn’t manage to resist the outstanding snooker techniques of Grace who will play against compatriot Jack Lisowski in Round two.
