Robin Soderling’s charity triad; launches several projects – Tennis News
Robin Soderling, the world no. 5 has been a busy body all week last week with launching his new charity foundation; “Robert Soderling Stiftelse”, becoming an ambassador for the Non-Violence Project and also announcing
a new talent accolade “Lakerol Robin Soderling”.  
“Robin Soderling Stiftelse”; is a newly established charity that helps to improve and assists  to cure children’s diseases for the economically deprived children, and is committed to support research in Sweden to improve their
lives.
The beginning of the week (Monday) saw the inauguration of his charity where he spent a day with the children from Queen Silvia’s Children Hospital. This event was a joint collaboration between the Queen Silvia’s Children Hospital
and along with his charity foundation (Robin Soderling Stiftelse).  
Following the event Robert Soderling said, “I got to spend time with the children from Queen Silvia's Hospital, play games, paint, and have lunch with them which was a true eye-opening experience and a day to remember.”
Following, the inauguration of his charity he was then nominated as the ambassador for the Non-Violence Project – Tennis for Peace by the Non-Violence Project Foundation (NVP).  
The NVP foundation is an internationally recognized body that educates, inspires, motivates young people to increase their knowledge about the various types of conflicts and how to reduce violence and promotes peace through social
change.
The symbol of NVP is a knotted gun and its figuration is recognized by United Nations along with many peace organizations around the world.
Robin Soderling together with Ernst Billgren (famous Swedish sculptor) designed and unveiled their interpretation of the sculpture at the opening ceremony of the Swedish Open tennis tournament in Bastad, Sweden. The sculpture will
travel around the globe along with other sculptures presented by many ambassadors amongst them some famous football personalities such as Buffon, Ballack, and many others.
Soderling excited about the project said, "Sport is a very good breeding ground for inspiring, motivating and engaging youth in positive action”.
During this week; Soderling in conjunction with Lakerol (Swedish candy brand) established a new talent aaccolade. The award is aimed to encourage young tennis players by continuously developing their skills and techniques and hence,
promoting the growth of Swedish tennis.
Amidst the ceremony of the accolade, Soderling personally selected and presented the “Lakerol Robin Soderling” award to the first winner. Elias Ymer, the 15-year-old was a recipient of SEK 50,000 as scholarship money and has won
two ITF events for junior tennis players.
While acknowledging the winner and inspiring the masses Soderling said, “I hope that in some way I will be able to inspire youngsters as well as help grow tennis in Sweden. This scholarship is very dear to my heart because as a
junior, I knew how hard it was to develop into a top player; it’s a long and costly way to go”.
