Robin Stanek knocks-out the third seed, Liam Broady, in round two – Australian Open (juniors) 2012
Briton upcoming star, Liam Broady, was hammered down by the underdog Czech participant, Robin Stanek, in the second round of the Australian Open (junior) tournament campaign.  The Briton was expected to win the match but the Czech
turned the tables upon him and sealed the next round berth with straight sets triumph; final scores were 6-4, 6-1.
With immense experience of playing at younger levels, analysts predicted straight sets win for Broady but it was a great turnaround by the underdog, who was just playing the seventh match of his professional career. The Briton
couldn’t take benefit of the experience of playing all those 62 matches at professional level before this event and suffered an embarrassing loss at the hands of Stanek.
Almost all the seats were empty at the arena; just few of them were occupied by the close friend of Broady , who flew all the way to witness their friend battling it out at the tennis court. Probably it was the pressure of performing
in front of them that caused the downfall of the Briton. Stanek was just accompanied by his coach who boosted his morale at all stages of the contest.
Stanek came at the courts with a complete game plan to pound his opponent. He continued to force his opponent to play backhand returns and minimized his strength by allowing minimal opportunities to play any forehand shots. The
Czech youngster held his serve and broke his opponent serve to bag an initial lead of two games. He further enhanced the score line to 3-0 in his favour before his opponent finally managed to hold on to his serve.
Broady broke serve to please his friends and in the next game levelled the scores at 3-3. It was the most exciting moment of the match for the Briton. To his surprise, his opponent broke his serve in the ninth game and rounded
off the first set win with a successful serve game.
Trailing one set down, Broady ran out of ideas and put up a miserable performance in the second half of the set. Stanek bagged three break serves and successfully capitalized on his serve games to march into the third round of
the tournament in style.
