Arsenal striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 upcoming friendly against England, as the striker has picked up a groin injury, which is set to rule him out of action for a week.
Van Persie, who was in top form during Arsenal’s game against Tottenham this past weekend, seems to have picked up a groin strain during the game. The forward missed out on the last ten minutes of the Gunners training on Tuesday and as a result, he is expected
to miss out on the upcoming international friendly against England.
However, the Dutch coach, Bert van Marwijk feels that despite the player reportedly being injured, he is more than likely to overcome his set back and be in the starting eleven to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
The Dutch coach, when talking about Van Persie and the possibility of him playing in the friendly is quoted to have said:  “We will have to wait and see but I don't think it's too serious. I am optimistic he will play”
Van Marwijk then went on to highlight the change in Van Persie’s role at Arsenal, as he believes the attack minded player has now officially become an all out striker.
When talking about this new position that Van Persie has taken up, Van Marwijk went on to add: “Robin is in great form. It's a little bit different this season with Robin"
“He is scoring a lot of goals now. He is now a centre-forward.”
“Normally he is a player who plays in combination, with others. He did that with Cesc Fabregas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 but now he plays very deep as a striker."
“The performance is more important than the result for us tomorrow”
It is still not clear as to how serious the striker’s injury is, however, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 not making such a big deal out of it as yet, many believe that the forwards set back could be a very minor one.
A number of players have picked up injuries right before an international friendly in the past and it seems like these injuries are sometimes exaggerated, just to prevent those players from travelling with the national team, in order to avoid injuries.
