Arsenal forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Cuellar in the FA Cup game between the two teams.
During http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s match against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, Robin Van Persie had his name in the headlines for more than one reason.
Apart from scoring two goals from the penalty spot, the striker managed to clash with Carlos Cuellar and it was believed the forward would receive a ban for his actions.
While contesting for an aerial ball, the striker seemed to elbow the defender in the face, but the referee waved play on and the striker went unpunished.
Following the game, the FA asked for the referee to review the situation, but the referee stuck to his initial ruling and stated that the striker was not guilty.
Despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish raising a lot of questions about the situation, it seems like Van Persie is not going to miss out on any games.
Neil Warnock also admitted that Van Persie had a special way to challange players, as the manager was monitoring the striker when QPR took on Arsenal earlier in the season.
When talking about Van Persie, Warnock is quoted to have said: "Every long ball that comes in he gets his arm up. He fouls the centre-half, but he does it in a way that they don't give it, so it's obviously within the laws of the game.”
"I think we've got to teach our players how to do that because it's within the laws of the game; it's ever so clever, but he does get away with murder. But I wish we had him.
"He looks at the player when the ball comes in, knows the player is going to get it so he gets his arm up. There must have been six or seven fouls today that nobody's picked up on. It's disappointing but you get that at the Emirates, don't you?"
It is good news for Arsenal that the striker is being let off easily, otherwise they could have had some serious problems up front.
Nonetheless, the striker is more than likely to keep a check on himself from here on, in order to avoid getting any bans in the future.
