Robinho arrives in Italy ahead of AC Milan move
Manchester City’s Brazilian forward Robinho has arrived in Italy ahead of his widely-expected move to AC Milan.
The 26-year-old is still the most expensive player in English football history after his move to City from Real Madrid two summers ago, but left City last January to move back to former club Santos on loan. Now though, he will link up with fellow Brazilians Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato at Milan.
He had been widely linked with moves to both Beşiktaş and Fenerbahce this summer, but Milan moved ahead of the Turkish clubs in the face for his signature over the weekend. However, the move hinges on whether or not Italian forward Marco Borriello leaves the San Siro before the closure of the transfer window this evening.
“I'm really happy to be here,” said Robinho. “I hope to have success at Milan.
“Milan are an important side and I hope I will be able to show my worth on the pitch. I want to win the scudetto. I haven't spoken with Pato and ‘Dinho’ but I'm really happy to be here."
