Robinho’s future in English Premier League?
While talking about his future in football, Robinho has clearly indicated that he has no desire to go to Turkey, which means that a probable deal with Fenerbahce has come to an unsaid abrupt end. Robinho said that he will only go for a move to Italy, or back to Spain.
Although, Robinho is a great footballer, but he does not seem settled in his current club, Manchester City. Last season, Robinho left Real Madrid, as he felt unwanted at the club. With some new signings in Madrid, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema, it was obvious that Robinho would not be able to enjoy the same role as he had been enjoying. Also, Madrid adopted a policy of getting rid of all the reminiscences of their past, which meant that Robinho would be overlooked during selection processes. Therefore, the Brazilian forward decided to leave the club, in order to look for a job somewhere else.
There are no second opinions about the class of young Robinho, who has got a lot of quality like a typical South American. He has got pace and style, with an excellent technique. Therefore, as he decided to leave Madrid, there were many clubs who wanted to sign the Brazilian. At that point, money was being injected into Manchester City, which meant that a player like Robinho would be paid a lot. So, he decided to join Manchester City, a rather less renowned club than others.
There was only one purpose of Robinho, as he joined Manchester City. He was aiming for a Champions League finish, and a possible Champions League victory in the coming seasons. However, he failed to live up to expectations, as City fell short of their target. However, there were changes in the top four, as Tottenham managed to break through and Liverpool dropped out. Robinho played almost no part in City’s campaign, as he scored only one goal for the club in FA Cup, while he played in only 10 league matches.
His first season at Manchester City meant only one thing that he would be the first person to be sold during the next summer transfer. During this time, he regained his confidence as he was selected for the Brazilian squad in the World Cup. Robinho scored two goals in South Africa, including the one against Netherlands, despite losing the match by 2-1. However, he did manage to re-establish himself, as his performance was much better than his past season.
But, despite his efforts to win back his position, Robinho was neglected by Roberto Mancini, his manager at Manchester City. Probably, Robinho has problems with his attitude, which might have been the reason of his exit from Real Madrid, while this might again be the cause of his failure at City. So, without considering Robinho, Mancini continued to strengthen his squad, as he bought more players in summer transfer. This means a total alienation of Robinho in the current squad.
Robinho is a young and energetic player, who cannot afford to be looked over, again and again, during this stage of his career. He has quality and a lot of potential, but he has failed to win any silverware, which he deserves a lot. Therefore, he is desperately trying for a move away from City, as he cannot afford to lose more time. However, the only clubs interested in hiring his services are Turkish clubs, including Fenerbache and Besiktas. Such kind of move will be a definite step-down for the forward, who has a potential to be a part of rather well-known team.
Therefore, Robinho has declared that he would not be interested in any move to Turkey, but he will look for a club in Spain or Italy. Right now, no such team has made any offers, which means that Robinho will be staying at Manchester City’s bench for another season.
