Well I got my two female roborovski hamsters one month ago, and through the past two weeks they've had little scrabbles. With the smallest one trying to defend herself on her back and the big one sort of fighting with her. Then I noticed Binkey (the big one) had a little bite on her ear, but the smaller one, Nibbles had no injuries. And now they keep having little scrabbles. But I really don't want to separate them, is there another way? Only answer if you know what to do. Please help, I'm really stuck!

  1. If they are fighting you shouldn't try keeping them together, they really will kill each other!!  I know that dwarf hamster perfer living in groups, but it is better for them live apart.  I'm sorry that this isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it is much better than expeirencing a hamster death.

I would love see pictures though!! :-)

  2. If its not a serious injury, they're probably play fighting. Robos do that a lot. However if gets more serious, I would probably seperate them.

  3. hamsters prefer to live on their own. and you shouldn't put more than one hamster in each cage. buy another cage and put the other hamster in there.

    edit:

please note ALL hamsters are independant animals. also, if one is a male and one is a female you shouldn't put them together; female hamsters can kill male hamsters.......

  4. You must separate them.  Hamsters usually live alone or in a large clutch (6 or more) with breeding going on (males and females together).  If you have only two hamsters together, if they are male and female, they'll mate, if they are of the same s*x, they'll fight.  Sorry, but that is the best way to be sure both of your females are healthy and happy ... two hamsters, two cages where they can't see each other (hamsters are very nearsighted and nearly blind, so all you'll need between the two cages is a couple of pieces of paper) or give one away.

  5. Well, I guess that you didn't pick the right pair...

If you decide on getting 2 hamsters, then you should look to see which two spend the most time together!

Well..Do you use two bowls? They could be fighting for property. Get two bowls and two water bottles so they don't have to fight on little things like that. Get mostly two of everything thats IMPORTANT. I'm not talking about toys and stuff.

If that isn't the reason they're fighting, then you should seperate them. You can always put something large in the middle of their cage to seperate them instead of getting another. Good luck and I hope this helps!

  6. you need to separate them or they will probably kill each other.

putting 2 females in with each other, makes them fight each other.

they fight becuase its like a teritory thing between them.

the only way to make them stop is to keep them in separate cages.

  7. well dwarfs are pretty dangerous and ur NOT SUPPOSED TO LEAVE TO HAMMIES IN A CAGE AND DWARFS HATE OTHER COMPANY
