Former Manchester United player, Bryan Robson fears that Ashley Young could go on and earn himself a reputation for being a diver.
Over the course of the last two weeks, Young has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The attacker went on to win two penalties for United, both of which were awarded to him for going down in the box, despite there being minimal contact between
him and his marker.
Robson feels that the attacker could land himself in hot water with the officials should he keep this up and that they could develop a bias against him. The former Red Devils believes that if this happens, then he could see genuine penalties not get awarded
to him.
When talking about the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robson-c31388 is quoted to have said: "Ashley is a sensible lad.”
"He will have seen all the publicity. He will look in the mirror and say he has to be a bit more careful.”
"Instead of going down, he needs to stay on his feet and put the ball into the net.”
"Loads of players do go down very easily and do take a dive.”
"It is not just within Manchester United. At most clubs a player will try to get a penalty if he thinks he can get away with it.
"If you get fouled in the box, go down but it has to be something that knocks you off balance."
At the moment, the world of football is divided over the fact that diving has become a part of the modern game and whether it is ethical to take tumbles in matches or not.
Some argue that it is alright to go down to avoid injuries, while other feel that you should take your opportunities, irrelevant of what you have to do to get them.
Nonetheless, what can be said assuredly, is the fact that this diving issue needs to be eradicated altogether, or it could end up attaching itself to the sport forever.
As far as Ashley Young goes, it is a wonder as to how he is going to behave, the next time he steps onto the pitch.
