Former Manchester United captain, Bryan Robson has gone on to claim that Jose Mourinho would be the ideal candidate to replace Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
With Ferguson now being in his seventies, the chances of him calling it quits in the near future are now higher than ever before.
However, with the United boss now nearing retirement, the team needs to think about just who they would bring in to replace him.
With no real candidates being looked at currently, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team go on and try and make an approach for Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager, who is currently in-charge of Real Madrid, has proven just how good he is in recent years and his versatility could see him fit into the United team with ease.
When talking about the possibility of Mourinho being appointed as United’s next boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robson-c31388 is quoted to have said: "As far as I'm concerned, and from what I know about Manchester United, they are not considering [a new manager] at the moment"
"How do you replace Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson? It is near enough impossible. But they are going to have to do that and Mourinho is definitely one who would be at the top of the list. His record speaks for itself.”
He then went on to admit that whoever comes in to replace Ferguson wouldn’t be able to kick things of in the same manner as the current United boss did, considering how he has spent twenty five years at the club.
At the same time, the new manager would have his own philosophies, which could prove to be a problem initially.
"Whoever goes in there they will have their opinions and ideas, but because of the success United have had over the last 20 years, you can't go in and rip everything apart and try to rebuild the way you think it should be.”
"How can you do that after so much success?”
Nonetheless, with nothing being confirmed at the moment, just about any competent manager could come in and take over as the Red Devils boss, once Ferguson does decide to call it quits.
