Rocco Potenza captures Men’s 1500m freestyle title: Day six – 2011 World University Games
Italy’s Rocco Potenza produced a stunning splash on day six of the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Friday, August 19. The session of the meet conducted Men’s 1500m freestyle final.
In the corresponding meet, Potenza picked golden crown on the podium by submitting a record time of 15 minutes and 00.57 seconds. More importantly, Potenza beat his best meet record of 15 minutes and 06.13 seconds, set back in June, 2011. The effort moved
him to Number 9 spot in the current rankings of world swimming.
Meanwhile, Yohsuke Miyamoto of Japan snared silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 15 minutes and 04.86 seconds. His splash moved him to Number 14 position in the current rankings of international swimming. Sergii Frolov of Ukraine earned
bronze medal in the platform by submitting a brilliant time of 15 minutes and 06.17 seconds.
More importantly, Frolov thrashed his previous best meet record of 15 minutes and 06.77 seconds, set back in June. His swim moved him to Number 21 place in the world rankings.
In the corresponding race, Michael Klueh of United States was placed fourth in a time of 15 minutes and 06.73 seconds. Ryan Feeley of US finished fifth in 15 minutes and 12.16 seconds, while Wallace Eggleton of Australia earned sixth place honours in a time
of 15 minutes and 23.78 seconds.
Damien Joly of France was placed seventh in a time of 15 minutes and 25.72 seconds. Kier Nelson Maitland of Canada settled eighth in a time of 15 minutes and 26.28 seconds, whereas, Anton Goncharov of Ukraine was placed ninth in a time of 15 minutes and
28.61 seconds.
Moreover, Daniil Serebrennik of Russia wound up tenth in a time of 15 minutes and 30.98 seconds and Yohei Takiguchi of Japan was placed eleventh in a time of 15 minutes and 31.46 seconds. Last, but not the least, Heerden Herman of South Africa touched the
finishing wall and finished twelfth in a time of 15 minutes and 39.08 seconds.
