Rock It Fornorma rolls to a great finish at Nottingham
The thrill of victory can make any winner feel like king of the world. That’s how Rock It Fornorma felt after a big win today at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium.
Rock It Fornorma (7-2), edged out two other competitors, including pre-race favourite Rabras Fountain, to lay claim on the top spot in this 500m A3 race. He led second, and carried the lead all the way to the finish line, completing the race in 30.77 seconds.
Behind the winner by 3¼ lengths was Jostmar Charlie, whose finishing time of 31.03 earned him second place. Rabras Fountain, the 5-4 favourite, picked up a third-place finish in 31.17, missing second place by 1¾ lengths. The win would have been his for the taking if he had not crowded at second.
Rabras Fountain, a three-year greyhound racing veteran, has had a fluctuating record throughout his career at Nottingham. Despite that, he has amassed a total of 28 wins. His best finishes to date were a trio of consecutive wins from 8 to 21 November 2008, while his worst was on 15 July 2008. He finished 14½ lengths behind fifth place for a devastating last-place result.
Placing fourth in this race was Salacres s**y (5-1), who was only a ½ length behind the favourite to finish in 31.21. Kewell Tag (9-2) was the fifth-place finisher, finishing the race in 31.27, which was ¾ lengths behind Salacres s**y. Finishing last was Revelry Hope (8-1), whose 31.28 finish was behind fifth place by a head.
Oneco Martha (7-2) was number one in next race. Despite crowing third, she rebounded to lead near the line, and won this A6 race in 31.37. Crowding at third cost Tullovin Magic (5-1) the win, but he finished the race a ½ length behind Oneco Martha with a time of 31.41.
In third place was Zigzag Zuerleone (4-1), who was a head’s length behind second place to take the third spot in 31.42. Salacres Lucy, the 5-4 favourite coming into this race, disappointed many with her fourth-place finish. She finished in 31.52, which put her 1¼ lengths out of the top three.
Distant Sherry (6-1) was a long distance from victory, as she was 3 lengths behind Salacres Lucy with a 31.76 finish. Torbal Fleece (5-1) was fleeced of a possible victory today, as he took sixth place in 31.80. He was a ½ length behind the fifth-place racer.
Will Rock It Fornorma be able to rock and roll to another big win at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium? The racing evening on Friday 17 September may have the answer. The action will get under way with an A6 race at 18:28.
