Question:

Rock and Pop: Should I just give up on having an opinion around here?

Should I just give up all the music I like? I mean i barely get answers on most of my questions about Alt-Rock. So should I just forget about all my favorite bands (most of which are just as good as most classic rock and metal bands) and convert to metal and classic rock? Should I just stop having a valid opinion on my favorite bands?

  1. Okay, you like alt-rock, classic rock, and metal. It's good to be accepting of different types of music. Some people in the R&P section can be snobs, but as long as you like all the music you listen to, who cares what others think. And the fact that you don't get answers on your questions about alt-rock just means that lots of people won't even try it so they don't know anything about it. It's their problem, not yours.

  2. Yes dude, you should!

    *sarvasm*

I have seen you mention Alt-rock a couple times...I'm not into alternative, but there are a couple users here that like it...some people just don't like listening to new bands or they would rather talk about classic rock or metal.

I'm one of those metal people in R&P I'm sorry...but I hardly see bands I like mentioned either. All I see is stuff about Opeth, Arch Enemy, Nevermore, JEFF LOOMIS, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Meshuggah, Ensiferum, Children Of Bodom, In Flames, Iron Maiden, METALLICA, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Tool...I could make a whole list about popular metal bands in R&P....then when I try to introduce different bands I don't get much answers because no one wants to listen.

so, you'll just have to get over it. There's nothing you can do about it really...you either talk about the real popular music in R&P or none at all. hmmm.

  3. Eh I just don't put much effort into it anymore. I like what I like, and if other people refuse to listen, or don't like it, why bother trying to change their minds?

I'm very picky with my metal honestly, and I post plenty of nonmetal bands but I get 2 or 3 "They're ok but not what I listen to" answers and at least 1 "Ew that sucks!" answer. Meh.

TU if you agree, TD if you have a secret Rihanna fetish.

  4. No dude, don't give in, I listen to alt rock and I'm going no where. The regular users are cool about it but you'll get the odd know nay-saying those bands. I asked a question earlier about Weezer and this dude answers in a way that everyone only listens to Classic Rock but I got 6 other answerer's and they loved Weezer.

I've seen metal q's asked with very little answers too. Another example for ya is I asked whats your top5 My Dying Bride songs and no one answered and they're Doom Metal.

    Don't despair and stay on!!

  5. Yeah.

    ;)

Nah jk, I see heaps of stuff on here thats alt. I never see anything I like so no..... I guess.

  6. Hey there my little GSP! You keep on having your own opinions. That's what makes you special. And I shall keep on mentioning Neil Young : )

  7. No! Ask some questions about alt-rock bands! I can't find enough to answer! Seriously. letting the side down

Edit: this is actually kind of a good way to get contacts with the same interests as you. was that your intention all along? im adding you =]

  8. I know, I also find it kind of funny how people harp on about always trying to find new music, but I've and some other people have posted umpteen questions unheard of band questionsand it's always the same few people who answer them [thanks to those people :D]

I don't mind Classic Rock every 5 seconds though.

  9. That's what R&P is for, didn't you know? We're taking over the world little by little by converting people to classic rock and metal.

  10. who are you again?

And.... uh.. what was the question?

  11. Why should you give up the music that you like because other people don't get it? Let me tell you, in my school people say "What's Nirvana?" (Then I have something near a heart attack) But Nirvana's still my all time fave band. You know what's weirder? I actually live in Seattle, Washington. What is the world coming to?

  12. Well dude I wouldn't say that just yet. Cuz i'm adding you in my contacts so I'll answer your grunge or alt rock questions. If you listen to metal and classic rock, that would be cool too!

  13. No. It's annoying, everytime if you say you like  a band that isn't 'classic', like Led Zep or The Beatles, you always get a few people who thumb you down. The band might be just as talented as the classics, too, but it makes no difference to those who only like classic rock.

    =]

  14. Listen to what you like. I'm more into metal but I might try to get into alt-rock someday. I just don't feel really enthousiasted by it... What would you consider alt-rock? Do Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, STP and Screaming Trees fall into that category?

  15. Of course, give in.

Just kidding. I love alternative rock, mostly from the '90's (good stuff). Classic rock is good, but not that good that it's the only thing that people should listen to.
