Rock steady Celtics remain unbeaten against Chicago Bulls with a 110-105 victory
TD Garden was crowded with a huge audience of 18624 that beamed with joy as their home team played a mind-blowing game against the Chicago Bulls. The game lasted for 2 hours 41 minutes.
Kevin Garnett was one of the heroes who stole the show for his team. It happened as he tipped the ball away from Joakim Noah in the very beginning. But it happened then when only 14 seconds were left that the game turned totally
in the direction of the Celtics.
The game was tied four times and the lead changed 8 times. Joakim Noah was at the lead as he scored 26 points, L. Deng scored 20, and D. Rose and T. Gibson each scored 18 for the Bulls.
At the end of the first quarter, the Bulls were leading the game 23-19. The Celtics again took the lead at the beginning of the second quarter with 12 points.
The Bulls were impressive throughout, until the game took a U-turn in the direction of the Celtics. The Bulls had 7 rebounds and also made a technical foul.
Carlos Boozer was missing throughout the game and the Bulls sorely missed him.
R. Allen rocked with 25 points, K. Garnett had to be content with his 16 points and ten rebounds, and G. Davis was trying his best with 15 points.
The Celtics gave total 6 rebounds and the inactive members were Bradley and Perkins.
Tom Thibodeau was successful in empowering the defences of his team back when he was with the Celtics. The team qualified for the NBA finals two times when he was coaching them. Later, when he owned the reputation of being part
of the top 18 defensive coaches, he was hired as the 18th coach of the Bulls.
It was Garnett who sparkled by drawing an offensive foul against Derrick Rose. By doing so he succeeded in getting a three-point lead in overtime. Ray Allen made it a five point game along with Rajon Rondo.
Luol Deng was successful in tipping the airball away from Kyle Korver. At that point, the Bulls had a chance to take a fast break provided by Noah. Garnett, however, dashed in and tipped the ball away from him. Later he clinched
it with some foul shots.
Ronnie Brewer jumped in to make the score 79-77 in favour of the Chicago Bulls.
The Celtics were leading in the third quarter with 16 points. They were cut to six points only in the late quarter. The Bulls took the lead in midway in the fourth quarter. It was because of a 3-pointer hit by C.J. Watson that
the Bulls took an 82-81 lead. When there were only 2 and a half minutes left, Boston took a six point lead prior to the 3-pointer hit by Deng. Deng rocked the arena when he hit another 3-pointer when only 1:18 were left. At that point, the game came to another
halting 96-96.
The Celtics were lucky enough to get the ball when only 35 seconds were left. However, Paul Pierce was not in the mood of letting them go with the ball. He overthrew Allen, while Keith Bogans outran the poor guy to the ball; there
was a timeout before he had a chance to jump and throw the ball in the basket.
With only 23.3 seconds left and the ball back in hand Rose tried his best to drive against Rondo. He then dove to the floor, knocking the ball away. The ball bounced to Noah, he lost control and so did the time that ran out as
the buzzer rang.
Shaquille O’ Neal could not join his teammates in this game as well. This would be his third straight missed game ever since he bruised his right knee.
