Question:

Rocket Fans?

First of all, congrats on Artest deal. I have a question however in the backcourt. Now Brent Barry (plays 2 spot as a spot up shooter and can potentially be a slasher under Adelman) is signed to solved outside shooting as well. What about backup point guards? Alston is very good, but there are three to back him up in Francis, Head, James, and Brooks. Which on would you rather keep? Which one would you like to see backing up Alston?

Also, would you like to see the Rockets keep Steve Novak?

  1. I agree

  2. Alston-Head-Brooks

    Artest-Battier-Harris

    T-Mac-Fransic

    Scola-Hayes

    Yao-Dorsey-Mutombo

    Dang, that's a deep bench.

Steve Novak's a sharp shooter, but i rarely saw him play in regular season.

  3. Thnx,

Alston-Brooks,Francis; if Steve can be healthy he could start, Aldelman said.

    T-Mac-Barry-Artest

    Battier- Artest

    Scola-Landry-Artest

    Yao-Motumbo-Dorsey

I think the Rockets are trying to make  a minor deal for Novak to try make room on their roster.

  4. First of I gotta say im really excited about the trade, this makes the Rockets huge contenders, and it was something they had to do with the up and coming young teams like New Orleans and Portland, along with the Lakers being the frontrunner's in the West.

To answer the question Steve Francis is still a big question mark, if his health does hold up he would be a solid backup. Aaron Brooks has tons of potential but with his size being an issue the Rockets still have to question his ability to distribute the ball and make the right decisions. Luther Head was a huge disappointment this past season, I hate when he plays the point he struggles with the dribble and tries to make passes that are not very smart. I think he a nice spot up shooter that at this point is completely "lost" in the mix.

I would like to see Francis back up Artest but I might be dreaming, many think Francis will never be healthy enough to play again in the NBA, I hope thats not the case. If anything Barry can play a back up point at times, and even Tmac can run the show now with Artest being added. The Rockets got a complete steal in this trade, and now have two of the best defenders in the league on the same team.

At some points I would imagene they would throw a lineup like this:

    PG- Tmac

    SG- Artest

    SF- Battier

    PF- Scola

    C-Yao

The possibilities are endless great deal for the Rockets. As for Steve Novak I don't care if he gets traded, great shooter and fan favorite here in Houston, but really insignificant in the rotation, another thing is he cant play any defense, hes a liabilty when on the court.

  5. I'm not a Rockets fan, but I'd like to see Francis backing up Alston. I wanna see if Francis still has it

  6. ummm mike james dont play with houston no mo and head is more of a sg so that mean barry gonna take his spot and brooks gonna be running point after alston and battier run the 4 sometimes the three and head can run sf and put hayes/lndry at the 5 cause mutumbo not gonna return

  7. I would be cool to see Francis step it up, but dont think its gonna happen. Head is a good backup sg s/ fire power, but Barry just took his spot. Not a fan of james or brooks. I would try to make one more trade: a forward and either james or brooks to get another pg. Which forward and for who?????

  8. rocket fans congrats to getting artest and now being the other Big Three in the west...

im a kings fan and i know youll be giving the lakers h**l come playoff time :D

keep novak, and i think Brooks will pan out nicely in the PG spot, your line up will definitely be

    C: Yao

    PF: Scola/Battier

    SF: Artest/Novak

    SG:McGrady/Francis/Head

    PG:Alston/Brooks

pretty decent line up you just need  a few fillers to put in and your team is good

just wishing you luck on the ron artest experiment you KNOW how unstable the guy is

  9. Yes, congrats! Artest is Houston's problem now. I'm looking forward to Bobby Jackson coming back to Sacramento. He might be getting old, but he can contribute and gives 100 percent when he's on the floor. You're going to find Artest will be OK for awhile, then he'll start whining and sulking about everything.
