Rocket Twentyone’s plan for next start still up in the air
The 3-year-old filly, Rocket Twentyone’s connections are still unsure of the filly’s next start, as the plans remain in the air. There are a few options down the road, but they will have to wait a few weeks to come to a concrete decision regarding the filly’s
next start.
The Graded stakes winning filly’s performance in the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes wouldn’t have helped the cause either, as her connections try to mull her next start, because the filly there turned in dismal performance finishing a disappointing eighth on 10
March, 2012.
Foaled in March 2009, the 3-year-old filly is the daughter of Indian Charlie, out of mare Symphonic Lady by Blare of Trumpets, as she is trained by W. T. Howard for Frank K. Fletcher. Prior to the Honeybee Stakes, Rocket Twentyone turned in a better performance
in her seasonal debut.
She finished a strong third in the Dixie Belle Stakes to winner Now I Know, over a distance of 6 furlongs at Oaklawn Park’s dirt course on 14 January, 2012.
Last season, as a juvenile, Rocket Twentyone races in three races, as she broke her maiden at first asking at Prairie Meadows, and then went on to land the Grade 3 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes at Arlington Park on 10 September, 2011, defeating the
likes of Essence of Bubbles in second and Ann of the Dance in third, while covering the distance in 1 minute and 39.13 seconds.
She finished 13th to cap off her juvenile season in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies to winner My Miss Aurelia last fall at Churchill Downs.
On 25 March, 2012, Rocket Twentyone turned in five furlongs in 1 minute flat. It was a fantastic drill under jockey Calvin Borel.
“We’re very happy with the way she worked,” said Kathy Moore-Howard. “Calvin thought she went pretty easy, but I guess it ended up being really fast.”
Trainer Tom Howard hinted that the filly could run in the $75,000 Prima Donna Stakes, but he said she would have to turn in another work before the decide on a race.
