Question

Seems like the bench problem is solved, and there's one thing remaining. Who do you think should start @ 4? Landry? Hayes? Scola?

1. Luis is the best of 3, but if he can be the 6th man then it will be invaluable to the front line. Although it is a waste for him no starting.

2. Landry is the tough man who hustles and collects lots of timely rebounds (and put backs). But offensive arsenal falls short.

3. Hayes was the consistent starter before he injured. He was a decent rebounder but undersized.

i gotta go with landry did u see him against the jazz the game winning block but i hope they grab a free agent like josh smith so he can play the 4 or move tracy to the sg n smith at the sf or also just add ben gordon

The Rockets offense relies on setting Yao up with the best support cast on the floor. That's why Scola started last year, and will start again this year. Remember, ever since Adelman took over, the centerpiece has been Yao. Scola complements Yao the best because he is best at doing the small niches that Adelman doesn't want Yao wasting his energy on - the weak side screens, contesting mid-range jumpers.

The biggest contribution by Scola though is his shooting ability. With Yao down low and the ball in McGrady's hands, the ideal offense is to spread the floor so that McGrady has a clear lane to the basket. Neither Landy nor Hayes are consistent scorers to open up space. Scola's shooting range (along with Battier's and Alston's) makes it more difficult for opposing defense to cluster up McGrady. And when McGrady has room to operate, you can maximize on his scoring capibility and passing.

Scola makes it the most difficult for opponents to double-team Yao or McGrady, and that is what Adelman wants. 1-on-1 for Yao or McGrady is when the Rockets are most dangerous.
