Hey, I have two (2) 12" Rockford Fosgate P3's (500 RMS each). Would it sound good with a Rockford P1000-1BD amp (1000W x 1 @ 1-Ohm RMS)? Or should I go with the MTX Thunder X1000D (1000W x 1 @ 2-Ohm RMS)?

  1. EITHER ONE OF THOSE AMPS WOULD DO, SINCE YOUR SUBS ARE 2 ohm EACH BUT I PERSONALLY WOULD CHOOSE THE MTX THUNDER AMP. I'VE USED ONE SIMILAR BEFORE AND IT PUSHES MY ONE 12" L7  SUB HARD. ALSO I BELIVE THE MTX AMP IS A HIGHER GRADE THAN THE ROCKFORD ONE.

  2. sub specs=

    CEA-2031 Compliant

    Size 12"

    Impedance 2-Ohm x 2

    Power Handling 500 Watts RMS

    1000 Watts Max

two 2ohm DVC subs can be wired to give you impedances of .5, 2, or 8ohms at the amp-- the lower the final impedance at the amp the lower the sound quality but the easier/cheaper it is to power

CEA-compliant amps are not stable below 1ohm so they would run hot and constantly go into protection, and at 8ohms it would cost an arm an a leg to power, so wire them up for a 2ohm final impedance at the amp (here's a diagram http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

the Fosgate amp would not work unless you used two of them- one on each sub because its 500watts RMS @ 2ohms

the MTX would be a perfect match

or you could go with any of these CEA-compliant brands with the correct specs

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio
