Rockview Venture bags The Stadium Bookmakers Sprint Trophy at Nottingham on Feb 6
Despite displaying an excellent run all the way through, Rockview Venture had to put in some extra hard yards in order to win The Stadium Bookmakers Sprint Trophy.
The 305 metre long Grade OR heat was hosted at Nottingham on Monday, February 6, 2012. Due to thick fog, the turnout was not huge, but those who came to the venue enjoyed an electrifying evening.
Rockview Venture notched up the top slot after a thrilling contest with Moany Tony. The two hounds ran side by side, but J. Sharp’s trainee won the thriller by a neck’s margin.
The son of Hondo Black, out of Babushan clocked the distance in just 18.27 seconds. Rockview Venture’s starting price was 4 to 1.
Moany Tony was lucky and unlucky at the same time. He remained behind by 0.03 seconds, but sealed the runner-up place by a neck’s margin. Bradgate Star gave him a hard time throughout the heat, but the H. J. Dimmock-trained hound’s near line lead was
enough to earn him the second slot.
After getting out from the stall with the winning chances of 6 to 1, Eskimo Jack’s son, out of Buzz Lamars took 18.30 seconds to conclude his run.
The third position was wrested by the black b***h, holding the winning possibility of 4 to 1. A 0.03-seconds difference hampered her from nabbing the second place, as she crossed the wire in 18.33 seconds. L. Cook’s trainee exhibited a clear run, and
ended up among the top-3 by 1 ½ lengths.
The result was a huge disappointment for the fans of Master Tobias, who was the favourite with the chances of 7 to 4. The white and fawn dog performed below-par, reaching the post in 18.45 seconds. Being crowded at the first bend was the biggest reason
behind his dismal show on the track.
Lacken Heights at 5 to 1 and Miss Slick sent at 6 to 1 finished fifth and sixth, respectively.  L. G. Tuffin’s trainee made it to the wire in 18.69 seconds, whereas Miss Slick’s running time was 18.79 seconds.
Rockview Venture has been doing well in the shorter version of the race, as he has recorded two wins in his three 305m races.
