Question:

Rocky Mountain Horse for Three Day Eventing?

I have found a Rocky mountain horse that is perfect for my size. He has only been trained for western pleasure so far. If I bought him and put him in professional training, could he become a Beginner/novice Event horse? I would move him up from there with me. He has a great temperament, eager to please. He is 11 years old. I have seen Tennessee walking horses jump, how about him? Jumping? Dressage? Cross country?

(if it works, this would be my dream horse!)

Thanks!!!

  1. although i know little about rocky mountain horses. a typical event horse is 7/8th tb, 1/8th warmblood.

this is because an eventer needs to be fast, adn have stamina (tb), be agile adn be able to jump well (tb, wb) adn be able to do dressage (wb).

althougt there are many sucsessful eventers that are not this combination of breeds, for example there have been many sucessfull: full blood warmbloods, full blood tbs, irish sport horses, many have part pony such as connemara this is because of teh ponies bright and honest attitude.

i hope i can be of help.
