Rocky Mountain Radar detecter!

I just heard from a friend that a Georgia Trooper told him radar detectors are not effective against the latest laser now being used, Is this true?
I'm asking because I just got a ticket and my detector did not give an alarm. Or maybe my unit Is defective. I own an older Rocky Mountain unit.
