  1. First watch this video:

Second read reviews and comments about Iberostar Cozumel here:

    Third: read the folowing review:

We spent a week at the Iberostar Cozumel from March 30 to April 6.

We checked in and as is usually the case I asked for a room close to the beach. The room they assigned was not only close to the beach - it was close to the buffet - close to the pool - close to everything. In fact too close. I returned to the front desk and congratulated them on such a great choice, but actually asked to move slightly away from what appeared to be the center of action. This was my first example of their excellent service and hospitality, as they suggested I look at a couple of other rooms locations' and let them know which was most to my liking. They might not always have this luxury, as on this trip the resort was not full, but I certainly appreciated the extra effort.

The remainder of the vacation was made relaxing and comfortable at every turn by always great friendly service at the bars, lightening fast service at the buffets, effective room service, wonderful SPA, excellent Dive Operation that would let the dive last as long as you had air to breathe in your tank, helpful concierge.

I'll echo previous comments that the buffet is good - so good in fact, we actually left the a la carte restaurant one night to go to the buffet - as we happen to be vegetarian + fish eaters and the selection at the buffet was much more to our liking. I'd categorize the poolside buffet (lunch each day) as excellent, and the main palapa buffet (breakfast and dinner) to be the best in the Caribean & Mexico. Fresh fruit, bread, cheese, salads, juices, fish ... There always seemed to be chicken, beef and pork out as well, and I did not hear of anyone getting ill - which has been part of poolside and beachside conversations on 2 trips to DR that I've taken - although I would seek out the Iberostar in the DR to see if the same standards are met at other locations as here in Cozumel.

Among the standard fare - eg cervesas, dirty monkeys etc ... Barmen at the reception bar served up excellent cappucinos!!!!

Beach was nice, lots of chairs - lots of shade and sun - but bring booties as it is hard coral and coral sand which is rough and sharp. Snorkeling off the beach was not too impressive. The coral is generally gone from within the marker buoys. We rented a Jeep from Executive rental at the resort - as even though I've been to Cozumel 3 times before, I still like to visit San Miguel and tour the island. The benefit was that we were able to drive and snorkle off the shore just off the old road by the Fiesta Americana, not far from where snorkling tour boats from the downstop stop with loads of cruise shippers. Other benefit to having the Jeep is that we actually made it over to the east side of the island early one morning to see the sun rise. Sunsets are a highlight of this trip. The sunrise on the quieter east side, with larger waves and brisker breezes was exclusive. Iberostar is actually only 15 minutes from the southern tip of the island. 20 minutes to San Miguel.

No beach vendors!! wooo hooo. Some slightly aggressive sales people on the San Miguel main drag, but not pushy and obnoxious as you find in Puerto Vallarta. St Maarten or DR. Some shops even had their prices posted, which I found refreshing and informative. Buyer beware, as the shop with prices posted consistently had products priced at about 1/3 of the "best special almost free" price of the shops with an open bargaining policy.

What more can I say but - volvere - I'll be back.
