Rod Lawler makes his way into pro snooker tour for next two years: 2012 World Snooker Q School
A tremendous display of superb snooker skills from the Englishman Rod Lawler brought him a place in the pro tour circuit for the next two years as the English potter defeated Ireland’s Joe Delaney by the score line of 4-0 in the quarter-final stage of the
2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
The quarter-final match up of the Q School Event 3 seemed a piece of cake for the Englishman as he cruised into four frame victories in no time and completely outplayed his opponent from the start. The Irishman had no chance against him and tumbled down
easily.
While speaking to World Snooker after his astounding success, Lawler said, “It was very tough to pick myself up after losing in the first event. Before the third one I went home for a couple of days to practise with John Whitty and if it wasn't for him I
don't think I would have made it through.”
He added, “There's a lot of pressure in these best of sevens and you have to get off to a good start in each match, and in this event I've played really well and only lost three frames. If I had dropped off the tour I would have had to get a real job!”
Lawler further explained that from now on the journey will be tougher for him as he will be playing against some of the strongest opponents so he needs to practise more and perfect his game play for the future. He also expressed that he always enjoys playing
at the baize and tries to give his best in the game.
World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) has featured 12 new potters after the finish of three events. These new cuemen will be participating in the pro tour circuit of the game for the next two years. These potters include Martin O'Donnell, Ian Burns,
Chen Zhe, Sam Baird, Daniel Wells, Jamie O'Neill, Paul Davison, Sean O'Sullivan, Joel Walker, Robbie Williams, Rod Lawler and Michael Wasley. It will be interesting to see what impact Lawler will have on the pro snooker tour.
