After bagging all three points on Eredivisie match-day 30 against FC Groningen, De Koempels boss aims to finish in the top eight and participate in the UEFA Europa League play-offs.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roda-JC-c40375 Kerkrade head coach, Harm van Veldhoven, has insisted that his side wants to finish in the top eight Eredivisie sides and compete in UEFA Europa League next term by winning the play-offs.
De Limburgers are currently occupying the ninth spot on the league table, level on points with the eighth placed, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370, who have a better goal difference.
With four games left to play for before the 2011/12 season comes to an end, the Kerkrade outfit has a bright chance of participating in the Europe’s second tier competition play-offs and keep their European hopes alive.
“We are now sitting ninth, and this is the incentive for our hard work this term”, Van Veldhoven was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
De Koempels recorded their first away win after the winter break when they defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 1-0 at Euroborg Stadion on April 15. The Dutch-Belgian trainer was extremely delighted with the win, but insisted that they could have won by a bigger margin.
“The opening ten minutes were brilliant. Groningen then pulled things back and started to play better. We took the lead due to a defensive error and were leading the match 1-0 at the half-time break”, Van Veldhoven added.
The 49-year-old tactician went on to admit that he expected the home side to play aggressive football after the break, but they failed to assert their authority and his side did well to hold on to the slim lead until the full time whistle.
“I expected aggressive football from Groningen. To counter with their tactics, I brought on Vukovic and started playing long balls upfront for him. We managed to gain better grip on the game and had better chances. I am pleased with the three points and
that too away from home”, Van Veldhoven concluded.
Roda JC will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 in their upcoming Eredivisie encounter at Rat Verlegh Stadion on Friday, April 20.
