would a guinea pig and chinchilla fight if put together in a cage??

i wasnt thinking of doing this but i was just wodering for future and friends

They might. Guinea pigs are extinct in the wild, but when they still lived in their natural environment, they shared territory with chinchillas. They have similar dietary needs and behaviours.

But keeping them in the same cage would be difficult. Guinea pigs need lots of floor space because they aren't good climbers, and chinchillas are GREAT climbers so they would need a cage with lots of ramps and levels.

As a rule, keeping different species of rodents together is a bad idea, but I know people who have done it. Lots of people keep guinea pigs and rabbits together. I think that chinchillas and guinea pigs would probably get along even better than guinea pigs and rabbits, and they aren't much of a danger to each other. (Rabbits can be dangerous to other animals because of their fierce kick.)

With ANY animals who are being kept together, even ones who are the same species, it's important to keep an eye out for aggressive and territorial behaviour. Since male chinchillas and female guinea pigs are the most docile of their respective species, that's what I would put together.

You have to make sure that bother species diet is being met properly and they could retreat from each other if they wanted.

If you don't have a lot of experience with both guinea pigs and chinchillas, I wouldn't recommend trying this. But honestly, I think the worst thing that could happen is that they would be scared of each other all the time.
