Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers expressed his admiration for the Reds prolific midfielder, Lucas Leiva following his early return to the squad after a knee injury, and claimed that he will build his team around the Brazilian.
The Brazilian International suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a Carling Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 back in November, ruling him out of action for the rest of the 2011/12 campaign. Even though the doctors had revealed at that time that the
midfielder won’t be able to make a full recovery over the next nine months, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 completed his convalescence process within seven.
Currently, he is a part of the Reds squad which will feature in a couple of friendly matches during their North American tour, ahead of the new season.
Keeping in view his influential presence at Anfield and the Reds manifesting troubles in his absence last term, the Northern Irishman expressed his delight upon having him by his side before the start of the next season, and revealed that he will look to
build the team around him.
While talking to reporters, he said: “He is the ultimate professional. He is going to be a brilliant player for me in my career here at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and I'm looking forward to seeing him back fully fit.”
Liverpool got their 2011/12 campaign off to a great start, but lost their way midway through the season following the injury to the 25-year old. Since his absence from the team, the Merseyside club suffered a series of dismal results and eventually finished
the league table at eighth spot-their worst standing in almost 18 years.
Rodgers, who took over the Anfield management on the 1st of June, divulged that ever since he arrived at Merseyside, he heard a lot of stuff about Lucas’ potential as a player and his exceptional character, but insisted that he is even a better
individual once a person gets to meet him.
He then went on to express his laudation for the player for making a speedy recovery and also commended his fighting spirit.
“The injury he's had is normally nine months before you get back at all, so he's back two months early. You only do that through one thing: sheer determination and hard work.”
