Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, has revealed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 Reina’s injury was not of serious extent, but admitted that the Spaniard could miss the Reds home game against Reading.
The veteran shot-stopper took a knock while on international duty. During the halftime break of Spain’s World Cup qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, the 30-year old pulled his hamstring while warming-up.
However, after undergoing some tests, the medics have unravelled that the nature of his injury was minor, but he is yet to make a full recovery.
Rodgers, who views Reina as an important member of the team, said that he met the Spanish International on Wednesday to inquire about his fitness.
The former Swansea City boss revealed that Reina looked to be in good shape, but he will make an assessment of whether or not to play him in the Reds upcoming league game against the Royals on Saturday.
“It's nothing overly serious - he felt just a slight twinge in his hamstring at half-time in the game,” he told the reporters.
“I met him here [on Wednesday at] about 7.15pm. All of our players coming back from international duty come here [Melwood] to be assessed and reported before they go back home.”
Reina has looked slightly off colour since the start of the season, committing scores of errors in front of goal. Despite being subjected to severe criticism from different circles over his performance, Rodgers prefers to start with the Spaniard ahead of
reserve goalkeepers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553 and Brad Jones.
In the event that Reina fails to prove his fitness for the Reading fixture, the Anfield chief confirmed that he will hand over the gloves to the understudy Jones, who he believes, has shown marked improvement over the months.
“It's good for us that if he can't play, we've got Brad Jones, who has made fantastic improvement since the beginning of the season and shows up every day of his life very well here,” he added.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will go into the game on Saturday desperate to get some points under their belt. They will also be looking to record their first EPL win at home this season, having failed to do so in their four previous attempts.
