The Northern Irishman said that he was never too concerned about the rumours relating the winger’s exodus from Anfield in January, as he knew that it was only a matter of time before he commits his future to the club.
Talks between the player’s agent and Liverpool representatives reportedly stalled over the subject of Sterling’s weekly wage. According to some sources, the 18-year old wants to be paid as much as 50,000 pounds a week, while the Reds are not willing to grant
him that since they deem him to be too young to be put in that bracket.

Nonetheless, the Anfield boss has claimed that an understanding has already been reached between Liverpool and Sterling over the terms of his new contract.
He unearthed that the deal is likely to be signed within this week, which will tie the starlet to the club for the foreseeable future.
“I have said before that there was never a real issue, it was just a matter of timing and we hope that over the next couple of days that can be complete,” he told the reporters.
“We were always calm. I speak a lot with Raheem and his representatives and there has never been any issues from their side. It was just making sure that we take care in terms of the financial and football plan for the player.”
The English International has already made 25 appearances for the Reds thus far this season, and has also earned a place in the national team.
Rodgers expressed his delight on having seen the player catch the fast lane towards greatness, claiming that Liverpool was the best place for him to develop a remarkable career.
“The kid is very focused and devoted to Liverpool. His representatives know this is the best place for him,” he added.
