The English International is set to make his 600th appearance for the Merseyside club on Sunday, when the Reds take on Newcastle United in a Premier League game at Anfield.
During his illustrious career, the 32-year old has won scores of accolades, inspiring his side to Champions League glory in 2005.
Even though Gerrard’s cabinet might be full of trophies, but the Reds skipper is yet to fulfil his dream of lifting the English league title.
Liverpool last won the league way back in 1990, and have failed to finish inside the top-four in the last three seasons.
The current state of affairs at Anfield coupled with the old age of Gerrard has forced many into believing that the EPL laurel will elude the Liverpool legend.
Rodgers, however, has a different say on the matter.
The former Swansea City boss is confident that the English footballer has still got a lot left in him and praised his unfaltering commitment to the Merseyside club.
“He’s been brilliant since I came in. He’s 32 years of age, captain of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 team and he and I are still looking at ways to improve his game – and that is a big mark of respect to him because he’s achieved many things in the game,” he told the reporters.
Rodgers’ unit have struggled miserably to get on top of the things in their home games this season, managing just a single win out of their five outings.
The Ulsterman was wary of the fact that they will need to improve on that score if they are to achieve their targets for this campaign.
However, he insisted that they have been unfortunate at times not to bag all three points, but was confident of reversing the situation when they host the Magpies at the weekend.
“I respect every team that comes to Anfield – it’s a big moment in their careers and always has been over many years,” he added.
