Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers went on to admit that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 is close to making a switch to Cardiff City, but insisted that the forward’s decision was based solely on personal reasons.
The Welsh footballer has been tipped by many to part ways with the Merseyside outfit, to join his home town club this summer.
A once regular in the Reds starting line-up, the 33-year old remained a second-choice option for former manager, Kenny Dalglish during the prevenient term. It is no hidden secret that the winger has repeatedly expressed his apprehensions over his lack of
playing time at Merseyside lately.
Talking to the reporters in an interview, the Northern Irishman conceded that Bellamy is likely to make a switch from Liverpool to Cardiff City in the coming days, and believed that it was a decision that he had taken a couple of months ago.
However, he insisted that the player’s decision was more influenced by the fact that he wanted to make a return to his home town club, but indicated that he won’t seize to be a Liverpool supporter.
The 39-year old told the reporters, “He enjoys playing for the club, but I believe that at the end of last season he had already made his decision… Cardiff is probably where he will end up. If he does, we wish him the very best.”
“It is not for football reasons that he is leaving but for personal ones.”
If some reports are to be believed, Bellamy is set to make a move to Cardiff on a free transfer. However, the only major impediment which might scupper the deal could be the subject of his salary. The forward was being paid 90,000 pounds per week by the
Reds – a figure unlikely to be matched by the Championship outfit.
Nonetheless, Rodgers mentioned that there was no point trying to cajole the player into signing a contract extension with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041.
“I obviously respect that. What is so important is a player’s happiness. Unless a player is happy you don’t get the maximum from them,” he added.
