Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, accused his side of taking the foot off the pedal in the second half, in their 3-2 defeat at the hands of Udinese on Thursday at Anfield.
The Merseyside club grabbed the lead in the first half through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081, as they dominated the early exchanges.
However, a poor spell just after the break allowed the visiting team to score thrice in the space of 27 minutes.
Di Natale put the Italian outfit level on terms in the 47th minute, before Sebastian Coates and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-Pasquale-c14997 notched up a goal apiece to stage a remarkable turnaround.
A 75th minute strike from Luis Suarez proved to be a mere consolation for the home team, who have now lost 3 games at their fortress so far this term.
Although Rodgers felt that his team simply ran over their opponents in the opening period, he accused them of being complacent after the restart.
He observed that the Reds performed in patches during the second half – something that he will need to address to as he looks to meet his objectives this term – and called upon them to be more consistent in their approach.
“I thought we were very, very good in the first half, and the problems that we have in the first 15-20 minutes in the second half has been with us from the beginning of the season,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“We lose concentration and become lazy, and all of a sudden in that period we find ourselves 3-1 down.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, renowned for their solid defence in the Premier League, have not lived up to their reputation so far this term in the backline.
The team have failed to keep a single clean sheet in all six of their league matches – a fact which the Ulsterman believes mounts more pressure on the forwards.
“We can't have to score three, four or five goals to win games. That's the end we have to work hard on…we just concede goals too early and that's something we need to improve on,” he added.
Following their defeat against Udinese, Rodgers’ men will next square-off against Stoke City on Sunday at Anfield.
