http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuri-Sahin-c28251, believes that Brendan Rodgers can emulate Jurgen Klopp’s phenomenal achievements with Borussia Dortmund if he is given sufficient time.
The Turkish International, who is currently serving a year-long loan deal at Anfield from Real Madrid, spent a brief spell with the German champions under Klopp’s regime.
The Borussians boss took over the reins of the club in 2008. Since then, he has guided them to back-to-back league triumphs in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons.
He also oversaw his side’s 5-2 trouncing of rivals Bayern Munich in the final of the DFB-Pokal last term, to help them secure a domestic double.
Liverpool have struggled to put points on the table ever since Rodgers assumed Anfield management in June. So far, the Reds have only bagged 6 points out of their first 7 games and look not even close of mounting a challenge for a top-four finish.
However, the midfielder spoke out in favour of his gaffer. He was of the opinion that the Ulsterman’s revolution will soon start to bear fruits and he can go on and emulate Klopp’s successes at Westfalenstadion.
"It will take time to take Liverpool back to where it wants to be. When Klopp came, we did not have a squad to be champions. He changed a lot, bringing his own philosophy in. It took a while for everybody to follow it,” he said.
“The club gave Klopp the time to do this and it worked out very well. As a character, he is a person who relates to the player. I can see Brendan doing the same.”
Rodgers may have suffered a troubled start to his Anfield career, but the Northern Irishman has already proven his credentials in the Premier League during his stint at the Liberty Stadium.
The 39-year old currently enjoys the complete support of the owners and his squad, as he looks to reverse the club’s deplorable condition.
Liverpool, who have got 18 league titles to their name, have failed to secure a Champions League berth in their last three attempts. At the moment, the Merseysiders occupy the 14th place in the league table.
