http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Brendan Rodgers, has no doubts that his side will soon hit the top gear, but insisted that for it to happen, they will need to improve on their home record.
The Anfield-based club have undergone a difficult start to the 2012/13 season, having notched up just a single win out of their seven games.
Consequently, they find themselves stumbling in the fourteenth place in the current league standings and look to be in no position to mount a challenge for a top-four berth.
Their home form, in particular, has been below par. The Reds are yet to record their first league win this term at Anfield. Since the turn of the year, they have only secured 2 league wins at home.
Despite the situation presenting a doleful picture, the Northern Irishman was upbeat about the Reds chances of kick-starting a recovery.
The former Swansea City manager said that the team will need to be more consistent in their results and should particularly look to improve at their own turf.
“We have to focus on what we can control, go into the game with a clear, defined plan and if it's not working then be flexible in terms of looking to put that right,” he told the reporters.
“Once we get that result then hopefully we can fly from there. We really want to make our home ground a fortress.”
Rodgers will go against his former club on Saturday, as Liverpool take on Reading in a league game.
The Ulsterman spent a brief six-month stint with the Royals, guiding them to 6 wins in 23 matches.
Although the spell did not fare as well as the 39-year old might have wished, he insisted that it was a good learning experience for him and helped him hone his coaching abilities.
“I came away from that and learned from the experience and reflected upon it. It prepared me going forward and I was able to take those things into the rest of my career,” he added.
Liverpool have enjoyed limited success against Reading recently, having won just one of their last four games. However, the EPL newcomers are themselves experiencing a lean patch and are yet to grab their first win of the campaign.
