Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers revealed that he was impressed by the talent and potential of the Reds juvenile winger, Raheem Sterling, but hinted that he may be loaned out during the summer in order for him to get more playing experience.
The 17-year old started his football career as a youth player in the Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 Academy. He was signed by the Merseyside club in February 2010 for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of 600,000 pounds.
So far, he has made 3 professional appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, and is yet to score his first goal for the club.
Sterling has been tipped as one of the rising youths in the Premier League by many of his team-mates, and has also reportedly won the plaudits from his manager during the training sessions. Currently, he is in North http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 with the rest of the squad, where
the Reds are scheduled to play a couple of friendly games as a part of their pre-season preparatory exercise before the start of the new season.
Rodgers revealed that he was thoroughly impressed with the winger’s potential and heaped praise on him for featuring in the Premier League at such a young age. However, he insisted that there was still a lot of work to be done before the player gets a taste
of first team action.
While talking to reporters, he said: “He is a talent, but he's not ready for the first team yet. One of the things I've done over my career is manage the expectation of young players and the reality is he is still very, very young.”
The former Swansea City boss also hinted that the talented footballer could be sent away from Anfield for a brief loan spell, in order for him to get more exposure, and to further polish his skills.
“He has certainly shown qualities and we'll decide over the next few weeks whether he stays and he's involved now or if he goes for a loan period. That's a decision for me over the next few weeks.”
Meanwhile, Sterling said that he was wary of the fact that he might have to settle on being on the sidelines during this coming term, but vowed to continue working hard in order to fight for his place in the team.
